Buying Information
Outfielders catch those big hits and need to have a glove that is designed specifically for this purpose, here’s what you should keep in mind before your next purchase:
- Size. You’ll be lining up to catch the ball at some distance away so it makes sense to have as big a catching area as possible. Large gloves of 14” are the best bet, although smaller gloves of 12.75” are okay too.
- Build Quality. Your glove will be used to absorb the majority of the shock from balls when you catch them. The leather needs to be of high quality as does all of the stitching.
- Padding. Extra padding on the palm ensures the softest part of your hands are protected from impact. The last thing you want is a sore hand after making a big catch.
Top 3 Best Outfield Gloves Reviews
1. Louisville Slugger
A very well crafted glove that has a fantastic modern appearance. The black tanned leather looks great with the light crème stitching. This glove will require some wearing in before you use it for your first play, but once the glove is worn in you will feel very comfortable using it during matches.
It comes with a generous 1 year manufacturer’s warranty so if any of the stitching starts to break or anything else faults on the glove you can have the confidence of returning it for repairs. This glove is a right handed throw so it only fits the left hand of the user, and it isn’t available in a left handed throw configuration.
When it comes to an outfielders gloves you can’t go wrong with the Louiseville Slugger series and the FG glove is a fantastic option when sourcing the best outfield gloves.
2. Rawlings GG Gamer
This gloves sneaks in as our second contender, and with two configurations available it’s easy to see why. This outfielders glove is available in left and right throw configurations, making it much more player friendly.
We loved the all black stitching and leather on this glove, it has great palm padding and is very comfortable to use. The glove requires some time to wear in, but much less than the Louisville Slugger series. Once worn in this glove … well, fits like a glove!
All leather is tanned in Tennessee and is of the highest quality, you won’t see any overseas materials in this high quality build, making it one of our favorite picks in the list.
3. Rawlings Player
This glove has a modern layout and design. The back is slightly modified from the traditional fit out with pull straps to tighten as desired. We found it a little hard to get used to at first, but once our hands adjusted to the new design we noticed improved catch ratios during play.
This glove has one of the shortest break in periods of all the gloves we tested. The manufacturer’s partially break in the glove before it leaves the factory so you can use it pretty much right out of the box.
We really appreciated the modern designed look of this glove, it has three distinct colors that pair well with one another to create a very stylish look. The stitching is in mustard yellow and perfectly offsets the dark black tanned leather. There is a little brown leather styling on the back of the glove that just finishes it off nicely.
It’s a great glove for the seasoned adult player or elite level outfielder. The lifespan of this glove is fantastic and it’s clear from our strenuous testing that it will last many years of hard use. Indeed if you only play casually, this glove will likely last you a lifetime. Making it one of the best outfield gloves we reviewed in our list.
